Dear Grindle,
17
You have concurred by your official letter of
the
the 25th instant (46574/17) in the Minute which we proposed
to present to Parliament about Hong Kong special war
rate.
As this Minute refers to a "further contribution"
we had better hold it up, I think, until the Omnibus Minute is presented. The draft of that is still with you.
Will it be coming along soon?
We should also be very much obliged if you could possibly give us a rough idea of what the proceeds of the
war rate are likely to be. We may have to provide funds in Hong Kong for a special purpose shortly and it would be of great assistance to us to know.
Yours sincerely,
G. E. A. Grindle, Esq., C.M.G.
J. Sydney Homes.
